![]() ![]() I used an iphone app DB meter: 112db sustained with peaks at 120db. I measured the SPL from my cab using a leveled Helix patch and with the volume on the PS170 at 3 o'clock. ![]() Those neutral LF/HF settings won't work well with the direct tone going to FOH or to an FRFR monitor. Tech experts from Seymour Duncan are regularly on this forum, and are clearly labeled as employees of Seymour Duncan. My understanding is that the PS170 is delivering about 1/4 of the effective power into a 16ohm speaker - or 42.5 watts. That's okay when using it for backline purposes, but it creates problems when using a hybrid output design: using a single Amp block for with the PS-2 as well as with FRFR. Using the PS-2 requires the Low Frequency and High Frequency parameters in the Amp block to be set at neutral (otherwise the lows and highs get too much emphasis). And it provides my Fryette GP/DI with plenty output power.īut, there's a but. Seymour Duncan PowerStage 170SummaryPowerStage 170 is a revolutionary pedal-board power amp designed for guitarists using pedals, modelers and effects processors to create their tone. It's also a great tool to have around for other purposes (as a load, etc.). Frankly, it sounds the best to me of every neutral amp I tried, especially again in the low-mids. The Fryette Power Station (PS-1 or PS-2) is a different animal. The (mid) lows of the Powerstage just sound better to me. And because I like its sound a little better than that of the Matrix. I switched to the Powerstage because of its size (wanted a smaller 19" case). The Matrix is an excellent device, used by many pros. ![]()
